The
vineyards
|
| |
|
|
|
At
a 300-400 sea level altitude, the ground |
| in
this area has an argilcalcareous structure. |
| Vineyards
are cultivated with “Gujot” system |
|
with approximately 4500 plants per
hectare. |
| They
are in production for quite some years |
| and
the harvest has a high quality. |
| |
| We
cultivate some of the most traditional |
| vines
in Piemont: |
|
|
Redwines:
Barbera, Dolcetto, Croatina |
| Whitewines:
Cortese, Timorasso. |
| Selections
(red): Vighet, Bardiga' |
| |
| Viticulture
consists in working like our |
| grandparents
and - in this hilly zone - like |
| our
fathers. Copper and sulphur, in their |
| most
simple form, together with the recent use |
|
of a honey-extract, for us are the means of |
| defence
against the principal diseases of |
| the
vines. |
| |
|
|
In
the past the weed that keeps on growing along
the rows was cut down using the
|
|
sickle
(and we still do that up until now) without
using any herbicide.
