After the Barbera this is the vine most often grown on the Tortonese hills. Because it matures early, the Dolcetto is less vulnerable in years when autumn begins cold and rainy and there are sudden drops in temperature. Over the years we have come to grasp the art of carefully thinning out the bunches of grapes during August. As a result, even in difficult years we are able to produce a wine of consistently high quality of wine which ages well.

The Dolcetto produces large, long triangular bunches with round reddish fruit. In the glass, the wine is an intense ruby red, with a winy aroma, a dry, pleasantly bitter taste in which there are recurrent hints of dog roses and in which the fruitiness is successfully wedded to the tang of tannin. Like other Dolcettos of other Piedmont regions, this is a wine that goes with all sorts of food, and can hold its own even with strong-tasting dishes.
